Join us in the Summer of 2027 for a musical spectacle that celebrates the power of imagination and revels in the magic of childhood. Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical is a joyous girl-power romp packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs. The Trollwood Mainstage Musical is proudly sponsored by Bell Bank.

“Trollwood offers young people an incredible opportunity to discover their talents, pursue their passions, and grow in ways they never imagined,” Trollwood Executive Director Kathy Anderson said. “Whether their interests are onstage, in the orchestra, or behind the scenes, students learn alongside industry professionals while creating something truly extraordinary. We are thrilled to welcome Trollwood alumna and Broadway veteran Becky Gulsvig back to direct Matilda in 2027. Her passion for mentoring young performers and creating exceptional theatrical experiences makes this an exciting opportunity for our students.”

Mark your calendars! Performances are scheduled for July 13-17 and July 20-24 with a new start time of 8 p.m. at Bluestem Center for the Arts, home of Trollwood Performing Arts School.

Music Theatre International Synopsis: Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!

Let’s make Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical a production we’ll never forget – full of fun, laughter, and the magic of Trollwood. We can’t wait to see what you’ll bring to the Bluestem Amphitheater stage!
