Trollwood Performing Arts School, located at Bluestem Center for the Arts, is a unique arts organization committed to providing high quality arts education, exceptional community entertainment, and serves as a community events and exposition center.

Trollwood serves as the managing arm for Bluestem Center for the Arts, a world-class facility headquartered in Moorhead, MN. The campus includes river views, grassy meadows, woods and wildlife, outdoor stages, a 2,500-seat amphitheatre, and the beautiful Marcil Commons which serves as an educational center and rental space including warm, knotty pine rooms with beautiful park views.

Trollwood Performing Arts School’s youth programs are committed to providing high quality performing arts education and exceptional community entertainment.

Since 1978, thousands of young people have spent their summers learning, growing, and making friends at Trollwood. Trollwood offers nine annual arts education, youth leadership and performance programs.

The school deliberately incorporates the outdoors because it is our belief that a connection to the natural environment fosters creativity, self-discovery, and an understanding of a healthy way of being alive. With nature as a model, students gain a better appreciation of the value of diversity, adaptability, cooperation, and interdependence.

MAINSTAGE MUSICAL PRODUCTION TEAM POSITIONS

COSTUME SHOP MANAGER: TROLLWOOD PERFORMING ARTS SCHOOL 2020

Join professionals from across the nation at Trollwood Performing Arts School, a unique youth arts organization that produces a high quality Broadway-style musical production each summer attracting over 25,000 audience members in an outdoor amphitheater located at Bluestem Center for the Arts in Moorhead, MN. Seeking Costume Shop Manager for Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella directed by Michael Walling, NYC based regional theatre director and Artistic Director for award winning Trollwood Performing Arts School. Working with the Costume Designer, coordinate the costume shop operations and the timely completion of costumes. Experience managing a shop for an expansive theatrical production, high skills in a wide variety of costume techniques including construction, pattern drafting and draping skills is a must. Significant administration experience, positive leadership, and excellent communication skills required. Responsible for managing quality of costumes throughout rehearsals and assisting in hiring professional shop staff. This is an educational theatrical production, and the candidate must possess the ability to teach youth.

Contract: On-site, flexible dates: Mid-May – Mid-July or early August, negotiable. Not affiliated with any unions.

Technical Director will produce all working drawings for construction of scenic elements, designed by Jack Mehler, NYC based stage and lighting designer for Trollwood Performing Arts School. Degree in technical theatre and minimum 3 years experience as Technical Director. Expertise in carpentry, stagecraft, welding, rigging, drafting, and shop management. Supervises professional team of 5-8 professionals in addition to student crews and volunteers.

Contract: Off-site part time prep February to early/mid-April. On-site, full time with flexible start and end dates to be negotiated from as early as Mid-April up to early May and contracts ending either July 19 or August 7. Not affiliated with any unions.

Degree in technical theatre with emphasis in scenic construction and minimum 3 years of experience preferred. Mastery of carpentry, stagecraft, welding, rigging, drafting, and managing shop operations. Working with the Technical Director, assist in supervision of scene shop team of 5-8 professionals, in addition to student crews, in the completion of all scenic elements. Assist the Technical Director in producing working drawings for construction of scenic elements. Responsible for shop safety, coordinating with other departments, and purchasing. This is an educational theatrical production, and the candidate must possess the ability to teach youth.

Working with the scenic artist, designer and scenic team, implement the painting of the production’s scenery and furniture. Seeking qualified candidates with a college level education and 2-3 years’ work experience scenic painting for a theatrical production.  Satisfactory portfolio displaying high quality work with attention to detail, as well as a wide range of technique and experience in scenic panting required. This is an educational theatrical production, and the candidate must possess the ability to teach youth.
