Bluestem Center for the Arts is a calm retreat located in South Moorhead. Nestled along the Red River, the wood and handcrafted stone buildings of Bluestem blend in with the surrounding nature, offering expansive views both inside the building and all around the grounds.
Located in a 38-acre park-like setting, Bluestem is like a private oasis inside the city of Moorhead. Bluestem is an ideal backdrop for any kind of indoor or outdoor event, from weddings to corporate retreats to community festivals, for groups from anywhere from one to three thousand.
The beautifully designed Marcil Commons building has a variety of spaces that serve many purposes. From small board rooms to a dance studio to the multipurpose Living Room which can serve as anything from a concert hall to a dining area, Marcil commons has a space that will work for many events from small groups through three hundred or more.
Our outdoor spaces also offer countless options. The Schlossman Pavilion, a lovely natural wood pavilion located steps from the river, can accomodate up to three hundred guests in a number of set ups. The Imagine Amphitheater, home to Trollwood’s Mainstage Musical each summer, has a capacity of three thousand and can be utilized for anything from large scale meetings or conferences to wedding ceremonies. In addition, the 38 acres at Bluestem are a perfect place for community festivals, farmer’s markets, or any event that would benefit from room to spread out in a beautiful outdoor setting.

WEDDING RENTALS
The facilities of Trollwood Performing Arts School and Bluestem Center for the Arts are typically available for wedding event rentals between the last weekend of September and the second weekend of May. Our space is perfect for anything from your ceremony, reception, dinner or dance at our facility.
Our wedding packages offer a variety of different spaces and combination of spaces to make your event perfect. Our events are first by time and then by space – we have packages from 0 – 4 hours, 4 – 8 hours, and a 12 hour wedding package. Our packages do not extend for earlier or later than the event date. If you are interested in setting up or decorating the night before – you are welcome to book an additional rental package. There may be an event previously booked that would not allow this to be a possiblity. Our Rentals Coordintator will be able to talk with you more about this!

Be aware that the Marcil Commons will accommodate up to 250 guests seated for dinner, but this requires seating in multiple rooms. Our largest room, the Scheels Living Room, will seat up to 184 with round tables, and 240 banquet style.
Renter must complete all clean up as stated in the Rental Event Information Packet. Failure to do so may result in an additional $250 charge.
Caterer must follow and complete Kitchen Use Checklist, also in the Information Packet. Failure to do so may result in an additional $250 charge incurred by the renter.

Selecting a venue for your event that meets all of your needs is as simple as choosing a Rental Package at Bluestem! We offer many different packages that can meet your needs. We offer different amounts of time, different spaces both indoor and outdoor on the Bluestem campus. From the warm and unique Marcil Commons to the vast and beautiful Bluestem Park – there is definitely something here to meet your needs! We have held many different events at our venue including:
